bridesmaid gifts

April 29, 2011 27 Comments

Well, what a way to start Friday. Kate exceeded my expectations by leaps and bounds. I loved her sleek bridal look, even better than what I anticipated! So in keeping with today's theme of love and marriage, I thought I'd share with you a project I did recently for a bride to be. She shared pictures with me of her bridesmaids and flower girls and together we worked on creating on stationery for each girl. The individual illustrations are pictured above. Sarah, the bride, selected pictures of her friends in their cutest outfits to share with me and made sure I captured each one's personality. Here are two samples of what I worked from... Each bridesmaid and flower girl got a box of note cards personalized with their name and illustration and the original sketch by moi to keep. Here's a sample... Just a little sample of something I've been working on! Now, I think I need a nap. I've been up since 4am!

Wow! Amazing work, it’s so inspiring I go into another world just looking at your artwork. So were all the clothes on the girls in your art clothes you saw at the wedding?

Hmm… well, I sort of make my style up as I go! i’ve studied some really beautiful books on fashion illustration over the years that people have given me as gifts and I picked up little tricks here and there along the way. And I love keeping up with other illustrators working right now to see their evolving styles and techniques and let them influence my own. I guess my best tip is to just draw all the time and be observant of things you see that you like and you’ll develop your own style.
