shoe resolution

Month of August resolution: find a pair of shoes that I don't hate. Running shoes that is. And then run around in them. A lot. I'm convinced that finding the right shoes in the right color is the only thing standing between me and Olympic greatness. Perhaps by the end of this month I will break through my own personal exercise glass ceiling and run four whole miles consecutively. Like I said, I am this close to being an Olympian.

I thought about illustrating some sneaks and started poking around pinterest for some to sketch and/or buy, but then saw these Manolos and well... obviously this took priority.

What shoes do you all wear to work out? I know you guys are also equally close to qualifying for the 2016 games and I want to know your secrets.

Buy this print!

I love your sketches, they make me very happy…haha. I also love to run as it makes me happy as well. The Saucony Kinvara 3 is a great shoe and the colors are quite pretty. I love the green with pink accents…very Lilly Pulitzer. I am running in Brooks Adrenaline GTS right now, but I also love Asics Gel Nimbus. The best way to buy running shoes is to visit a running store so they can fit you properly. A good store will look at your foot print and then analyze your arch and whether your feet roll in or out or are neutral. I would love to see your sketch of a super cute pair of running shoes!

Haha! These are gorgeous. I dont run, I walk in some sweet Nikes. But they do make great shoes specifically for running that are lightweight and wonderful these days.

Ultimately I am an Adidas girl. I wanted to get the new Nikes so badly because they come in such fantastic colours…but when it’s for running it all comes down to fit, and you just can’t beat those arch supports from Adidas!

Saucony Hurricanes.

But color is less important than not getting injured.

Go to a real running store, not a Foot Locker, where they watch you run and recommend a shoe.

If you’re back in DC, I like Potomac River Running in Ballston.

I agree, nike looks so cool but I don’t think they’re good for your knees/feet. Why can’t they be cute AND functional????

Hehe looks like you and I have the same problem. I desperately needed sneaks but I always instinctively turn to heels every time. So I recently compromised and bought a pair of canvas sneaker heels. I was disappointed (and for some reason a little surprised) that they weren’t comfortable enough for actual sneaker use, so I definitely don’t recommend ‘em. After that in a blog post I put up a week ago, I illustrated a bunch of cute actual flat sneakers after I found a bunch of nice ones online. So there are a lot of fashionable options out there right now, especially if you like floral or leopard print. Don’t give up your search!

Also just wanted to say great poolside illustration. The August girl was really pretty too.

You are too funny. I hope you win a medal=0) I love the Nike Air Max, but my feet are wide(super duper). I also don’t do the super long runs…‘cause I’m old. LOL! At a certain age the knees start to go.

I love your Manolos!
