Here are illustrations I created for Jacques Levine
's fall 2012 lookbook.
Have you visited their site recently? Their new fall line now includes shoes!
Luxurious, stylish shoes I might add. Shoes to wear out and about, not just slippers for around the home.
I just put an order in with the JL team for a pair of the Brynn
smoking slipper. Aren't they wild?
It's getting to be that time of year again. Time for lady-like trends to push maxi dresses and nautical stripes aside. Bring on the shiny, furry and the pleated. Let the wild cardiganing begin, invest in opera gloves, and burgundy leather bags. Paint your nails dark gray and put peter pan collars on everything! It's fall!
Speaking of peter pan collars... how do we feel about them? I for one know I would look like the actual peter pan wearing one. Not good. I think you need to balance it with something very womanly. Like big hair to reinforce the fact that you are just pretending to be a little boy.
oh la la... where do i begin? the kate spade
fall 2012 preview was such fun. the title of the event "toutes les filles sont folles" or "all the girls are mad" says it all. french chicness and colorful kate spade playfulness of epic proportions. really, thank you ks team for creating a preview tailored to my exact list of favorite things: french femininity, garance dore's scrawling handwriting, stripped pedestals and giant fashion illustrations everywhere. seriously this is literally my list of favorite things. (plus croissants)
i had so much fun walking through the bubbly crowd and seeing the little details on each model. i want to sketch them all. and probably will. but i had to start with this one. the floaty skirt, the bow belt, the shirt. that shirt... i must get one.
ok back to sketching!
look from DSquared2 reminds me of the 60s. Well, I wasn't there, so it makes me think of the 60s. And then it makes me think of the joyous fact that MadMen is coming back soon!
And from pre-fall to actual fall, I'm off to Milk Studios to see what there is to see today at New York Fashion Week. Because here in NYC on this chilly February day, it is actually time to start thinking about September. I'm going to visit my good friend Taylor of Shut up I love that
and her good friends at the IFB
(thats Independent Fashion Bloggers). Taylor has been kind enough to sneak me into the presentation of Misha Nonoo
and a few others. I'll be tweeting and instagraming so you should follow me to get a birds eye view!
