Hello friends! Hope you all had a nice long weekend. I'm back with new card designs for all your summer time note writing needs...
You probably recognize them as they've been blog posts/prints for a while now. So many of you wrote in to ask if these might turn into stationery so I decided to go for it!
I've put in some sample ideas for imprinting too. Both Beach Weekend
are available now in my shop!
Hi! Sorry for being absent this week, the NSS catch-up work has really had me tied up!
So since I don't have a new sketch to share, I wanted to show you a project I'm working on: Baby Shower Invites!
I'm considering orienting them vertically instead of my usual horizontal set up. What do you think?
These two are for a boy's shower. A fun challenge, since so much of what I do is lady-centric. And then this one could be sort of either/or...
Or any shower really! And one last cake for the road...
I saw that cake on Pinterest, my new favorite thing. If you are ever looking for a quick pick-me-up just type "baby" into the pinterest search and see what pops up. So sweet.
And here is the invite I'm printing today (I've changed some names and addresses so.. ya know, you can't go catfish on these nice people)
Ok, I'm going to be busy/out of town for a few more days. Don't give up on me. I promise exciting news and lots illustrations in the coming weeks!
Oh and PS!!! All my pictures from the Stationery Show are in an album on the Inslee By Design Facebook Page
Here's a little person for your viewing pleasure today. I made her up, there's no real story here. Just wanted to sketch something!
I'm back in DC and preparing to address the many new exciting projects that are awaiting my attention. Feeling a little overwhelmed. But most of all, feeling so glad to have had such a fun, productive week in NYC. Thank you to everyone who helped to make Inslee By Design's debut at the NSS a huge success!
I'm already excitedly imagining what next year could be like and looking forward to seeing new NSS friends again! I'll be back later to share some of my favorite highlights of the show with you all
Today is the final day of the Stationery Show and so much has happened, I don't even know where to begin! So I don't think I will.
Instead I'll share two quick little sketches with you. They're both inspired by photographs of real girls, but of course the NSS craziness has erased my memory of who they are. Oh well, I'm pretty proud of myself for managing to post anything this week at all so details on inspiration sources will have to wait. Enjoy and I'll be back to my usual sketching schedule in no time.
Off to the convention center to wrap up a great show!
ps. buy a print of this illustration
Hello! The National Stationery Show is such a whirlwind, I don't think I've ever smiled so much in one day before or been so impressed by so many acts of creativity all in one place. Yesterday was a successful first-ever opening day for me. I met so many enthusiastic people and even wrote orders!
The day began with torrential rain, but we charged forth despite the weather to go sell some paper, all bright eyed, bush tailed and color coordinated....
to discover that despite our speculations and fretting, the booth was still standing and in splendid condition if I may say so. (Please refer to the before picture to be further impressed)
After arranging flowers and my sample products and smiling through an elaborate photo shoot there was a moment of are they coming? are they coming?
while everyone stood poised and ready for the buyers to come shop. While waiting I met this friendly man/giant book and considered asking my helpers to wear similar outfits and go trolling the aisles looking for new business...
but alas when my amazing friends arrived I decided to opt for allowing my them not to dress as giant books but instead as cute people... (although, now that I reconsider, if I'd made them walk around wearing giant blow ups of my cards, they probably would have loved that)
Aren't they delightful? I couldn't have done it without them and their energy. I really do feel so lucky today to have so many supportive people in my life. They've helped my dream come true for this show!
What an exhilarating day! All in all a fabulous start. Can't wait to see what today holds. Off to the convention center, wish me luck!
Hi from NYC! Yesterday was wildly productive for NSS prepping. Here is our before picture (check out my mom's buff yoga arms)
and about an hour - I'm serious ONE hour - later this was the "after" scene. Are we efficient or what!?
be amazed. if you think this was easy to construct...
Look how thrilled I am with my DIY project and my new official NSS badge necklace...
look at that face. So full of hope and pride. Who wouldn't buy cards from me?
Ok guys, today is the final set up day! I hope we finish early so I can snoop around all the other amazing booths. There is seriously so much incredible inspiration and creativity jam-packed into this place. Its a hot bed of attention to detail and I couldn't be more excited to explore.
Happy Birthday to Briana, one of my most beautiful friends, inside and out! Back when we were in college she was OBSESSED with the color pink. Shes since grown out of this phase, but I couldn't resist giving her a touch of fuchsia as a nod to the endearing memory of her all pink freshman dorm room!
Alright ladies (and gents... are there any gents?) I'm off to the National Stationery Show in the morning and I haven't even packed.
I will keep you all up to date with the exciting goings on in NYC with lots of pictures. If you are in the city and going to the show YOU BETTER COME SEE ME. Booth 1366. DO IT.
Have a wonderful weekend!
