Central Park Menagerie
A diptych! Two 2018 original works in watercolor on Arches paper create this immersive experience. Framed behind UV protective museum plexi glass with a white frame and mat. Each section measures 41x48" so overall size is roughy 48x82" (plus a few inches of breathing room when hung)
We took my son to see the Central Park Zoo on an October day. The fall foliage and his cheeks were as red as his Patagonia vest. But as we stepped inside the "Tropical Zone" we were instantaneously transported away from New York day to a lush climate where animal calls physically parted the heavy air and we had to duck through ropes of vines, narrowly avoiding birds in flight. The shock of it evoked a mood of creativity for me (and for my husband, it was just really sweaty) If you've ever seen this place then you know. If you haven't, you must. A real jungle in Central Park. I knew right away that I was walking into a painting and I came home and made this.
