Painted as an imagined further-fractured fragment of the Venus de Milo. If you examine the statue found in the Louvre, you'll see that I've taken away her head and legs which I think works wonders for her.
I love how the "base" drives unapologetically with true north precision into the undulating folds of her garment. I love how the heaviest sumi ink applied here suggests an interior cavity that is a dark and mysterious abyss.
Mostly I love that art history allows for a lexicon this juicy while still being objectively arty.
